Cetirizine - non-sedating hayfever tablets (a generic version of Zyrtec)
Non-sedating generic antihistamine tablets for seasonal allergies (hayfever).
Active Ingredient: cetirizine hydrochloride 10mg.
Classification: Pharmacy Only Medicine.
Purpose/Usage: Seasonal Allergic Rhinitis: Cetirizine generic contains the same active ingredient as Zyrtec - cetirizine hydrochloride. Cetirizine generic is indicated for the relief of symptoms associated with seasonal allergic rhinitis due to allergens such as grass and tree pollens in adults and children 2 years of age and older. Symptoms treated effectively include sneezing, rhinorrhea, nasal pruritus, ocular pruritus, tearing, and redness of the eyes. Perennial Allergic Rhinitis: Zyrtec generic (Cetirizine) is indicated for the relief of symptoms associated with perennial allergic rhinitis due to allergens such as dust mites, animal dander and molds in adults and children 2 years of age and older. Symptoms treated effectively include sneezing, rhinorrhea, postnasal discharge, nasal pruritus, ocular pruritus, and tearing. Chronic Urticaria: Zyrtec generic (Cetirizine) is indicated for the treatment of the uncomplicated skin manifestations of chronic idiopathic urticaria in adults and children 2 years of age and older. It significantly reduces the occurrence, severity, and duration of hives and significantly reduces pruritus.
Dosage: Usual daily dose is: * For adults: 5 to 10mg daily given as a single oral dose. The dose may be increased to a maximum of 20mg daily depending on the severity of your condition. * For children aged 6-12 years: 5 to 10mg daily given as a single dose or divided dose. * For children aged 2-6 years: 2.5mg once or twice daily. * For patients with kidney problems: 5mg daily (discuss with your Doctor). The maximum recommended daily dose is 20mg. Do not exceed this dose unless told to do so by your doctor. Do not use in children under 2 years of age.
Warnings: Zyrtec generic (Cetirizine) should not be used in those patients with a known hypersensitivity to it or any of its ingredients or hydroxyzine. Activities Requiring Mental Alertness: Be careful driving or operating dangerous machinery or participating in any hazardous activity that requires full mental alertness until you know how you react to this medication. You should avoid drinking alcohol or taking sedatives, tranquilizers, sleeping pills, or muscle relaxants while using Zyrtec generic (Cetirizine generic) Allergy Treatment. Drug-Drug Interactions: Pregnant or breastfeeding women should consult their Doctor first. If you have kidney or liver disease, tell your doctor. Your dose of this medication may have to be reduced.
