Habitrol patches deliver a controlled dose of nicotine to assist you quit smoking

Habitrol patches are discreet to use and help smokers give up smoking by reducing the unpleasant nicotine withdrawal effects that are normally experienced when stopping smoking.

Purpose/Usage: Habitrol patches deliver a low dose of nicotine to reduce some of the unpleasant effects experienced when you stop smoking. Habitrol Patches are intended to ease withdrawal symptoms by providing your body with nicotine. This leaves your mind free to concentrate on overcoming your psychological desire to smoke. Habitrol patches giving you a continued nicotine effect throughout the day. Patches are very easy to use. You simply apply one patch per day (usually upon waking in the morning) to receive a constant dose of nicotine.

Dosage: The patches are available in three strengths: 21mg, 14mg and 7mg. If you smoke more than 20 cigarettes per day, you should start using the high dose patch (21mg) first, then after three to four weeks gradually reduce your intake by swapping to the middle dose patch (14mg). The middle dose patch should be used for a further three to four weeks after which time you should progress down to the low dose (7mg). Once you have been using the low dose for three to four weeks you should be able to stop using the patches completely. If you smoke less than 20 cigarettes per day, you should start using the middle dose patch (14mg).

Directions: The Habitrol Patch system is contained in a child-resistant sachet. The sachet should be cut along the dotted line to facilitate removal of the Habitrol Patch contents. Following removal of the metallic backing, the Habitrol Patch should be immediately applied to a clean non-hairy, dry area of intact skin on the trunk or upper arm. The patch should be held in position for 10-20 seconds with the palm of the hand. A different site of application should be chosen each day. You should allow several days to elapse before using the same area again. If you apply the patch correctly, you can shower, bathe or swim without worrying about it coming off.

Warnings: Not suitable for children.
Do not use if;
* You are pregnant or intend to become pregnant.
* You are breast feeding.
* You have had a recent heart attack or stroke.
* You have heart disease or palpitations or angina.
* You are a non-smoker or an occasional smoker.
* You are under 18 years old.
* You are allergic to nicotine.
* You may be sensitive to the patch adhesive.
Do not use Habitrol patches and continue to smoke. All forms of nicotine should be avoided during pregnancy. Patients who have had or still have; hypertension, stable angina pectoris, cerebrovascular disease, occlusive peripheral arterial disease, heart failure, hyperthyroidism, diabetes mellitus, renal or hepatic impairment, gastritis or peptic ulcer disease should discuss the use of Habitrol patches with their physician. Treatment with Habitrol Patch should be discontinued if symptoms of nicotine overdosage appear. Mild intoxication produces nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, diarrhoea, headache, sweating, and pallor. Doses of nicotine that are tolerated by adult smokers during treatment can produce severe symptoms of poisoning in small children and may prove fatal. Both before and after use, Habitrol Patch contains a significant amount of nicotine. The Habitrol patches should not to be handled casually or left where they might be inadvertently misused or consumed by children. Keep out of reach of children. Please read the enclosed leaflet.
