Comvita Woundcare 18+ uses honey's antibacterial power to assist in the management and healing of minor wounds such as minor burns, cuts and scrapes. Honey provides a moist, bacteria-free environment. Keeping a wound moist reduces scarring and assists healing. Science supports the use of honey in healing minor wounds. Honey has been found to contain antibacterial properties, including an enzyme that produces hydrogen peroxide, a proven antiseptic. UMF, first identified at New Zealand’s Waikato University, is an antibacterial activity in addition to hydrogen peroxide found in ordinary honeys that makes UMF Manuka special amongst the honeys of the world. The UMF number comes from a laboratory test for antibacterial activity, with the honey being compared with a standard reference antiseptic (phenol) for potency. UMF 18+ would be equivalent in antiseptic potency to a 18% solution of phenol. Comvita Woundcare 18+ is also known as Manukacare 18+ in the UK.

Directions: Squeeze Comvita Wound Care 18+ onto a gauze dressing and apply as required.
